Terms of use
Effective November 6, 2026
In short
- AuraTrace is a personal migraine journal. It is not a medical device and does not give medical advice.
- Every feature is free for 7 days, starting from your first entry. After that, AuraTrace Plus is needed to log new entries and use Insights and reports. You can always open, read and edit your journal.
- Monthly and yearly plans renew automatically until you cancel in your App Store or Google Play settings. Lifetime is a one time purchase.
- Payments and refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their policies.
- These terms are governed by the laws of Ontario, Canada.
These terms apply to the AuraTrace app for iOS, iPadOS and Android (the "app") and the website at auratrace.app (the "website"). AuraTrace is made by xyzlab.dev, an independent developer based in Ontario, Canada ("we", "us"). By downloading or using the app, you agree to these terms and to our privacy policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.
Your license to use AuraTrace
We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use the app on devices you own or control, for your own non-commercial use, in line with the rules of the store you downloaded it from. You may not copy, modify, resell or reverse engineer the app, except where the law allows it despite this limit. We keep all rights in the app, the AuraTrace name and icon, and the website.
Apple devices
If you download AuraTrace from the Apple App Store, the Licensed Application End User License Agreement (the standard Apple EULA) applies to your use of the app on Apple devices, together with these terms. Where the two conflict, the Apple EULA wins. Apple is not responsible for the app or its content, and Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for it. Your purchases are also subject to the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions.
Android devices
If you download AuraTrace from Google Play, the Google Play Terms of Service also apply to your download and purchases, together with these terms.
The free trial
Every feature of AuraTrace is free for 7 days. The trial starts when you save your first entry, not when you install the app, and it is the same whichever plan you choose later. Before your first entry the app is fully usable and no trial time passes.
- The trial is managed by the app. It is free and nothing is charged when it ends. You are only charged if you choose a plan and confirm the purchase with Apple or Google.
- The trial is meant to be used once. Deleting your data does not start a new trial.
AuraTrace Plus
After the trial, AuraTrace Plus keeps every feature unlocked. You can choose one of three plans:
| Plan | Price (USD) | Type |
|---|---|---|
| Monthly | 2.99 per month | Auto renewing subscription |
| Yearly | 19.99 per year | Auto renewing subscription |
| Lifetime | 29.99 once | One time purchase, never renews |
Prices outside the United States are set by Apple or Google in your local currency and may include taxes. The app always shows the current price for your account before you buy. Plus is tied to the store account you buy with. You can restore it on other devices that use the same Apple Account or Google account, but purchases do not move between the App Store and Google Play.
Auto renewing subscriptions
The monthly and yearly plans are auto renewing subscriptions:
- Payment is charged to your Apple Account or Google Play account when you confirm the purchase.
- The subscription renews automatically at the end of each period, at the same price unless the store tells you about a change in advance, until you cancel it.
- On the App Store, the subscription renews unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period, and your account is charged for the renewal within the 24 hours before the period ends.
- On Google Play, the subscription renews at the end of each billing period unless you cancel before then.
- When you cancel, Plus stays active until the end of the period you already paid for. There are no partial refunds for the rest of a period, except where the store's policy or the law requires one.
Managing and cancelling
You can manage or cancel a subscription at any time:
- iPhone and iPad: open the Settings app, tap your name, then Subscriptions, choose AuraTrace and tap Cancel Subscription. You can also tap Manage subscription in AuraTrace's Settings.
- Android: open the Google Play Store app, tap your profile picture, then Payments and subscriptions, Subscriptions, choose AuraTrace and tap Cancel subscription.
Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription. You must cancel it in your store account settings.
Refunds
Refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their refund policies. We cannot issue refunds directly because we never receive your payment details.
- App Store: request a refund at reportaproblem.apple.com.
- Google Play: see the Google Play refund policies, or request a refund from your order history in Google Play.
If a purchase is refunded or revoked, Plus is turned off. Your journal is not deleted.
If Plus ends
Your data is never held hostage. When the trial ends, a subscription lapses or a purchase is refunded, you can still open, read, edit and delete your entries, mark an ongoing migraine as ended, and change your settings. Logging new entries, Insights and the PDF report open the Plus plans instead until Plus is active again.
We may add features to Plus over time. We will not take away a core Plus feature you paid for without a very good reason, such as a legal requirement or a change in Apple or Google rules.
Medical disclaimer
AuraTrace is a journal for recording your own experience of migraines. It is not a medical device. It does not diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease or condition, and it is not a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis or treatment.
- Patterns, insights, trends and the PDF report are simple summaries of what you entered. They may be incomplete or wrong, and a trigger that appears often is not proof that it causes your migraines.
- Always talk to a doctor or other qualified health professional about your symptoms, medication and treatment. Do not change or stop a treatment because of something you saw in the app.
- If you have a sudden, severe or unusual headache, a headache with fever, a stiff neck, confusion, weakness, numbness or trouble speaking, or symptoms that worry you, contact emergency services or a doctor right away.
Your content
Your entries and notes are yours. They stay on your device, and we do not get a license to them because we never receive them. You are responsible for keeping your own copies, for example with your device backup or by exporting a PDF report, and for whom you share a report with.
No warranty
The app and website are provided "as is" and "as available". To the extent the law allows, we make no warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement. We do not promise that the app will be free of errors or that data will never be lost.
Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, health outcome, profits or goodwill, arising from your use of the app or website or from relying on anything they show. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for AuraTrace Plus in the 12 months before the claim, or 5 USD if you did not pay anything. Some places do not allow these limits, so they may not apply to you, and nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer protection laws that cannot be waived.
Changes to the app and these terms
We may update the app and change or remove features. We may also update these terms. When we do, we will change the effective date at the top of this page, and for important changes we will let you know in the app. If you keep using AuraTrace after a change, the new terms apply. Price changes for subscriptions are announced by Apple or Google under their rules.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there. The courts of Ontario have jurisdiction over any dispute, unless the consumer laws of your home country give you the right to bring a claim where you live.
